Infrared Temperature Sensors Linear
M-Series Modular System

For Non-Contact Infrared
Temperature Measurement

Linear Laboratories M-Series line of non-contact infrared temperature sensors are designed to provide accurate, continuous temperature measurement in a wide variety of manufacturing settings. As with all of our infrared temperature instruments, the M-Series measures surface

temperature without contact by collecting infrared radiation (heat) from a remote object and focusing it on a detector. This infrared detector converts the radiation to an electrical signal which is amplified to produce a 0-1VDC non-linear output. There are many inherent advantages to using infrared temperature sensors for temperature measurement:
Moving objects are measured easily and accurately.
Dangerous or hazardous materials are measured safely, with no contact.
Accuracy is assured because no heat is removed from the object being measured.
Measurements are made rapidly so that thermal patterns and transient phenomena can be observed even on the fastest moving process lines.

The M-Series Sensors

The rugged miniature design of the M-Series makes them ideally suited for industrial environments where cost and size requirements are a consideration. With the wide choice of sensor packages, mounting configurations and temperature ranges, M-Series infrared temperature sensors can be implemented in virtually any industrial application. Adjustable Emissivity allows you to compensate for almost any surface condition (i.e. shiny, oxidized, painted, etc.). In addition, the M-Series infrared temperature sensors and Linearizer/Power Supply units are readily adaptable to process machinery and compatible with standard temperature controllers. This means that our high reliability infrared sensor can easily replace the fragile, slow response, short-life thermocouples you may be using now.

M-Series AC-DC Powered Linearizer Units

Linear Labs' flexible M-Series infrared temperature sensors products can be used as "stand alone"
units, providing a non-linear 0-1 VDC output, or they can interface with a DC-powered M-200 or an AC-powered M-250 linearizer.

The Model M-200 DC Powered Linearizer and the M-250 AC Powered Linearizer units are compatable with any of the M-Series Models. These linearizers accept the non-linear signal input and produce a linear output. The outputs available include 0-5VDC, 4-20 mA or Type J
thermocouple equivalent.

The M-250 infrared temperature sensors is housed in a rugged aluminum enclosure. The enclosure is available seperately for the M-200 under part number ME-200.
