Temperature Measurement Instruments are designed for temperature monitoring and analysis. Thermometry is the measurement of temperature. There are two basic methods for temperature measurement, contact and noncontact. An engineer is likely to come into contact with six types: thermocouples, resistive temperature devices (RTDs and thermistors), infrared radiators, bimetallic devices, liquid expansion devices, and change-of-state devices.
