Non-Contact Temperature Measurement Linear C-1600 Series

Accurate,
                 Low Cost,
                                  Easy To Use

The C-1600 Series Infrared Thermometers are self-contained, battery-operated devices for non-contact temperature measurement. Each model consists of a probe and a display unit. The power source is a single 9-volt alkaline battery.

Each C-1600 is a passive sensor which receives and measures (heat) radiation from an object. Since temperature is measured without contact, there are several important advantages associated with this technique. Measurements are made rapidly ( one second) so that thermal patterns  and transient phenomena can be observed. Heat is not removed from the measured object so that the accuracy of the readings is assured. Moving objects, dangerous materials and electrical components can be safely measured. For example, the C-1600 is ideal for nondestructive testing and design of electronic circuits.

Features

Measures temperature without contact
Fast response for transient temperature measurement
Sensitivity of 1°F (1°C)
Safely measures electrical components, dangerous and inaccessible materials
Switch selectable, degrees F or degrees C readout
Analog output optional
Powered by internal 9-volt battery or 110 VAC (optional)

A three position switch located on the display unit, is used to select power on °F, off and power on °C. When the battery voltage drops to 7 volts, a "LOW BAT" indication is displayed. The C-1600 probe easily attaches to the display unit for single-handed operation.

Measurements can be made from as close as ¼ (0.6 cm) from the source. As the distance to the source is increased, the diameter of the measured area increases proportionally. At 3 inches (7.6 cm), the measured area is about 1 inch (2.5 cm) in diameter. The effect of measuring at an angle, other than perpendicular to the source, is to slightly increase the measured area. For a large uniform temperature source, the reading is unaffected by measurement angle or distance.

The analog output signal is 1 millivolt per degree. An optional analog output cable can be used to provide for recording or controlling temperature. Simply plug the cable into the analog output jack and connect the striped wires to your recorder or controller.
